Charlotte Tomlinson
Piano teacher
Vocal, ensemble and musical coach

Charlotte Tomlinson has an international profile as a teacher and coach, and as a pianist and chamber musician performing in Europe, the UK, Australia and Southeast Asia, and broadcasting for the BBC, Dutch National Radio and RTHK (Hong Kong).

She has worked at the highest levels with such prestigious organisations as the Royal College of Music,
Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music (official accompanist), at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (accompanist and vocal coach), and the University of Hong Kong and Wollongong University, Sydney (teacher and coach). Her current students include pupils at the Purcell School and music undergraduates at Oxford University.

She is the Artistic Director and founder of Chamber Music International, of which Sir Simon Rattle is the patron - “a stimulating and visionary course – I think it’s wonderful!”

Charlotte combines her outstanding musical and teaching skills with the ability to draw all the threads of the self together in a holistic approach to piano playing, music making and learning. She can work in fine detail on technique and the deep structure of a piece of music, whilst still addressing 'the person behind the instrument', and bringing out the best in musicians.

Her philosophy is as much about developing the person as it is about developing the player. She is also a recommended practitioner for the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) for tendonitis and RSI (repetitive strain injury).
