Sara Solovitch

Writer & amateur pianist

Sara Solovitch

Amateur pianist, Sara Solovitch, spent a year in her late 50’s exploring her childhood fear of performing in public. She set up a recital for herself at the end of that year, worked towards it with the intention of ‘getting over’ her nerves and then wrote about her experience in her book A History and Memoir of Stage Fright: Playing Scared.

She explains how she explored her performance anxiety from lots of different angles, finding out what worked and what didn’t work for her; she talks about the various different therapists she went to, along with her views on Betablockers.
